Do You Really Need Bangs?

Have you ever wondered if you should go for a change in style by choosing to cut your bangs? Styles are always changing – and for Fall 2015 – things seem to be leaning on a longer, fuller bang that is sometimes parted in the middle. But how do you know what is right for you? So many choices to consider: blunt, arched, heavy, wispy, short, long, side-swept, or parted.

Face Shape 1

First, you need to determine your face shape. Oval faces are able to do pretty much any type of bang style. A rounder face will need a little length added, so you would really only want a side-swept bang, a very wispy bang, or possibly a very short, blunt bang. For an long or rectangular face, you would want to consider a longer, blunt, heavy bang to help shorten the face shape.

Now “measure” your forehead using your index, middle, and ring finger. To do this, place your fingers at your hairline. If your ring finger lines up with the top of your brow, than you are able to go with or without bangs, it is your choice. If you measure less than or more than 3 fingers, you may want to consider bangs as an option. A higher or shorter forehead can be concealed by a stylish bang.

Brooke Bangs

For those of you with longer hair who want to try some bangs without committing all the way, try to cut a longer bang starting at the cheekbone. It highlights the eyes anytime you create a weight line around the eye/cheekbone area.

No matter what is on trend for Fall, just remember, have fun with your hair. In the end, it all comes down to what you are comfortable with. The great thing about hair is that it grows – and you can always change it!
