Around this time of year, when people here pumpkin they usually think “yum…pumpkin pie.” Pumpkin can also be yummy for your skin too! Pumpkin contains high amounts of vitamins A and C, both antioxidants that help to fight age and damage. Pumpkin also contains low amounts of alpha hydroxy acids, which gently exfoliate the skin. Recent research has also shown pumpkin is effective for reducing the likelihood of certain cancers and can help with inflammation. Eating pumpkin can give some of the skin benefits, however application directly on the skin yields the best anti-aging benefits. Many skin care lines have pumpkin masks or you can get creative and make your own.

Check out the easy recipe below for a pumpkin mask:

Mix 4 tbsp of peeled pumpkin, 4 tsp corn flour, 2 tsp aloe vera, 2tsp mashed pineapple, 1 tsp green tea, ½ tsp sunflower oil.

Apply to clean skin for 15-20 minutes and then rinse well with water.
