Do you use a toner? Do you even know what they’re used for? Many people wonder if it’s even necessary. Toners have two purposes: to remove and residue left on the skin after cleansing and to balance out the skin’s PH level after cleansing. Toners have also been said to help contract the pores.
Some people swear by toners, but many beauty consultants do not. A famous beauty expert claims, “Toners are only for copy machines.” I personally feel that if you’re cleansing properly, you shouldn’t need a toner to make sure the skin is clean. As to balancing the PH, the skin does that on it’s own.
It seems to me like just another marketing scheme to give us yet something else we feel we have to buy and do. Some of the best skincare lines on the market don’t even offer toner. H-m-m-m. So that being said, I know there are oily skins out there who love their toner and I understand (but suspect the overuse of toner is possibly part of the problem). Ultimately though, if it works for you and you like it, enjoy it…but don’t feel obligated!
