Not quite yet, but you have time to plan for cooler days right around the corner. Here are some great tips and forecasts for what to expect will be “hawt” this next season. I think every new trend for fall is easily added to your existing wardrobe, with minimal investment, and lots of wearing power. See what Teresa Greenfeld has to report for Fall 2013 Trends
Perhaps left over from those days when a new year began in September, there’s always a particularly special and exciting feeling to Fall fashion. The fabrics are rich, the cooling temperature lends itself to chic layers, and, let’s face it, from boots to booties to loafers and oxfords, the shoe options are endless. This year, from New York to Paris, Fall 2013 seems to be the season of extremes – one way or the other.
“Fur, no longer reserved for the coat or stole, instead becoming statements – even the head to toe focus – on runways from Marc Jacobs to Fendi to Christian Dior . The presence of shoulder-grazing earrings promises a Fall chock full of chic, pulled back hair styles (all the better to show off an adorned ear). The “power-suit” took on a whole new meaning at Prabel Gurung and Altuzurra, where battle-ready ensembles were updated with chicly tailored styling and impact-making shoes. Get ready to shorten your coat sleeves, because the glove is back in every way; opera-length, colored, exoti-skinned or textured. Ostrich feather detailing – a must have for Fall’s evening-ready looks, was old-Hollywood glam at Louis Vuitton and provided a feminine touch at Dries Van Noten. The boot went thigh-high at Chanel and Emilio Pucci; even pointed-toe pumps weren’t safe, and were extended far north at BCBG Max Azria. Even embellishments, typically extreme in their own right, were taken even further; ornate gold and jewel encrusted shoes at Dolce & Gabbana, and crystals, appliqués and beads traveled down pant legs at Blumarine and Giambattista Valli.
Even if smartly-draped coats, buttery leather boots, and sumptuous fabrics don’t give you a certain nostalgia for number two pencils and fresh notebooks, our favorite trends from the Fall 2013 runways will have you wishing for a back to school shopping list.”
