The Met Gala 2013 was “Punked”

by Dyana

The Met Costume Gala in Manhattan is fashion’s biggest night out in the city. The celebrities feel the intense pressure of being dressed to the tee knowing the world will be watching. This year the annual event, which celebrates the opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute, was “PUNK: Chaos to Couture.

Each year, the Met Costume Institute Gala Institute  is attended by the biggest names in Hollywood as well as the most  elite in the fashion society.   Stars known for their incredible fashion sense stroll down the Red Carpet in glorious creations by the worlds top designers.  Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, Beyoncé  , Anna Winteur  are just a handful of the fashions finest  that contribute to this nights fabulous event

This years theme  entitled PUNK: Chaos to Couture, was not meant to be represented by the typical interpretation of vintage punk clothing, instead  was inspired by punk’s impact on high fashion. This definitely was obvious on the Red Carpet at last week’s gala: there was a mixture of fancy gowns accented with  punk style details , full out punk outfits  , and dresses that did not resemble the theme at all.
