Insider scoop… FNO!

This coming Thursday Sept 6th is the highly anticipated annual shopping event that takes place globally to kick off the fall 2012 shopping season! Fashion’s Night Out was an initiative started in 2009 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, American Vogue, NYC & Company, and the City of New York to celebrate fashion and boost retail sales. Since its inception this event has spread world-wide.

Cities around the globe host shopping and fashion events to stimulate local retail sales. This is Tulsa’s second year to participate in FNO and there is a fantastic line-up of events. Clary Sage College is very excited to have our design student’s involved in not only one, but TWO design competitions! Local fine fabric boutique, The Cloth Merchants, is sponsoring a design competition where the contestants are provided one yard of fabric to spur their inspiration! It is amazing how many ways a dress can be interpreted from the starting point of the same fabric. A second competition is sponsored by Miss Jackson’s, where the inspiration provided to each contestant was a food item. Incredible interpretations are being developed by our students. This is such a great opportunity for our students to experience the competition and hard work that is reflective of what it is like in the “real” world industry of fashion design. And I couldn’t think of a greater way to showcase our wonderful students, (Except for our very own fashion show in October… more to come about that!) So please come out and support our students either at the luncheon in the morning where the winner of the Cloth Merchants competition will be announced, or that evening at the Miss Jackson’s fashion show presentation.
