Customizing Your Massage

By Tessa Brooks

Is a Swedish massage not everything you need or want from your massage? Feel like you need something more? You should look at all of your add-on options.

At Clary Sage College we offer many ways to customize your massage to fit your needs. Some of our add-ons can be done within the time of your massage like deep tissue, hot stone, and aromatherapy cream. Others such as a scalp massage, deluxe hand massage, or deluxe foot massage add on 10 minutes each to your time, but are well worth it.

The benefits of receiving any of these add-ons varies depending on what result you are looking for. If you need work on your deep muscles, but pressure just won’t cut it, deep tissue and hot stone add-ons would be great. But what if you are on your feet all day and just want to relax? How about some aromatherapy cream with a foot add-on?

Between our 30, 60, and 90 minute time options and our 6 add-on options we have 54 possible massages. And that’s just if you add them 1 at a time! Think about the infinite possibilities… It’s mind boggling!

As a massage therapist helping your client to customize their massage can make all the difference. A client is more likely to come back if you not only give them a great massage, but also show them that you care about their well-being. Giving them the option of creating a unique experience each time could make them want to try them all!

As either a client or a therapist there are many combinations that work for anyone. During your interview time, be sure to discuss what the outcome of the massage needs to be. This will help to narrow down any extra options and tailor the session to fit everyone’s needs.

Massage add-ons bring variety and uniqueness to any massage. And since variety is the spice of life, live on!

  1. Aromatherapy creme is my favorite add on by far. I feel it enhances my massage and creates a relaxation to help ease stress. I love the idea of having basic services and then the option to add additional services.

  2. love to sell add on’s to my clients. Some times I comp it the first time. 1 because they need it and 2 because they may love it and request it everytime

  3. I have been trying to figure out a good add on that would be very portable and easily handled. Since i will be traveling to ranches to work on horses and the people that own them when requested, I need to come up with something that wont be mess or cumbersome. Still thinking, I’ll figure it out eventually.

  4. I think add ons are a great way to make the client feel that much more special and taken care of, especially if it id done with out them asking or with out charging them the first time. I think giving them that little extra will benefit the client as well as the therapist’s client base. Now I’m wanting to get some add ons done to me..

  5. I learned something new today. I didn’t know that we had all of those options to offer to clients. Just reading this makes me want to go down and get a massage at Clary now

  6. I have never been to Clary yet but just reading this makes me want to go get some massage done now. Hot stones here I come!

  7. Add on’s are always a fun way to customize your massage. Great ideas! I definitely like using essential oils.

  8. I think i would enjoy learning all of these add ons but I feel like I would really incorporate Aroma therapy more than the rest of them. I love aroma therapy because it relaxes the client as well as help the therapist. Can’t wait to learn!!!

  9. I had a client ask me about the different options and what I thought was best for her so I feel like she’ll definitely be back because of that.
