5 Halloween Costumes From Your Closet

There are two different kind of festive people — the planning people and the eleventh hour people. The planning people spend the entire month of September + October nailing down the perfect costume (I assume; planners, feel free to chime in if I’m wrong.) and totally kill the costume competition. The eleventh hour people (ME!) have all of these great ideas, but lack the motivation to actually complete the costume.

Lucky for my fellow eleventh hour peeps, there are a number of cute costumes you can pull from your own closet!

 1. The Devil

A true classic. You can’t go to any Halloween function without a few devils and there is nothing wrong with that! This trusty costume looks great and is pretty easy to put together. Grab a red dress, some red heels, horns and a pitchfork and you’re good to go.

2. Doll

Every girl has a trusty baby doll dress, right? Grab your dress, some white knee-highs, and your favorite pair of heels, then give our Patchwork Doll Makeup Tutorial a try. You’ll be the cutest doll around.

3. Hippie

Peace, Love and Happiness with this super cute and simple costume. If you’re really feeling it, switch out the Birkenstocks for your best groovy platforms.

4. Mary Poppins

Confession: I’m kinda obsessed with Mary Poppins. I used to watch the movie ALL THE TIME. Alright, I still watch it pretty frequently. My obsession runs deep. I have a Mary Poppins tattoo and plan to get several more. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ So, yes I have worn this costume before and loved it. I was able to become one of my childhood favorites with items I already had (minus the bow tie – I used a red bow hair clip!) and you can too!

5. Risky Business

A little Tom Cruise for you! Even if you haven’t seen Risky Business, you know this costume. Grab a comfy white button up, tube socks and some black sunglasses and you’re Joel Goodsen for the night. (Disclaimer: some sort of bottom is advised.)

Now there’s no excuse for you to show up without a costume this Halloween. 😉
