DIY Bath Salts, bath salt tutorial, bath salts, christmas gifts, DIY, DIY bath salts, diy blog, gifts, Massage, massage blog, Massage Therapy, massage therapy blog, peppermint bath salts, TutorialI love DIY projects, and I love playing with essential oils. I’d like to offer a simple and fun gift giving recipe/project for the holiday season – Peppermint Bath Salts!

The Recipe

Items/ingredients needed:

  • 1 Cup Epsom Salt
  • 1 tbsp. Baking Soda
  • 4 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • Mason Jar {8 oz.} or your favorite little jar
  • 4 drops Red Food Coloring
  • Ribbon

In a mixing bowl combine the Epsom salts and essential oil. Add food coloring to the mix as desired and ‘viola’.

If you want a scent other than peppermint, you’re in luck! Below are some suggested scents and their purpose(s):

  • Relaxation: lavender, sandalwood, vetiver, jasmine, chamomile, cedarwood
  • Invigorating: cypress, fir, juniper, lemon, nutmeg, orange, grapefruit, peppermint, eucalyptus
  • Romantic: rose, jasmine, clary sage, geranium, ylang ylang

Optional Ideas to Add On

  • If you are doing a lavender recipe and actually add lavender seeds. Buy them in bulk here.
  • You can fancy it up by using decorative jars, fabric, ribbons.
  • You can layer colors to give a striping affect in the jars.
  • Labeling the jars (glass is preferred as some oils can be volatile and melt plastics) can be as fancy or simple as you wish. For example you might tag you gift: “Spiritual Salt: Patchouli, Cedarwood, Orange essential oil combination. Use ¼ – ½  cup of bath salts to bath, let dissolve and enjoy!”
  • Add a small wooden scoop to measure out the salt into a bath.

If you were to use bath salts what would be your favorite scent?  Perhaps someone you love will see your response and you’ll receive the perfect gift!
